Please note the course levels and requirements listed in the syllabi on this website. Since, there might be slight changes in the course offers – students must check it from time to time. Lectures will last until February 5th, 2022, and examinations will be held approx. until February 25th, 2022.

The Nomination and Application Procedure

Students interested in applying to the exchange program can submit the following documents to the Directorate of International Academic Relations no later than 29th May 2022:

  • Nomination letter from the department indicating the study programme and study level.
  • Contact details (name, email and phone number)
  • Proof of English language proficiency e.g. IELTS, TOEFL.

Selected students will be promptly contacted by the SUAS team and will be asked for few necessary application documents such as their high-school certificate and proof of enrollment, and they should reply within a week.

Costs and Housing

As a public university, SUAS do not charge any tuition fees. Students will, however, need to pay a one-time semester contribution of approx. €130 to get enrolled, of which the university will forward 100% to the Students’ Union and Student Assembly – and it includes free public transportation all over Thuringia. The most convenient and affordable way to live at SUAS is in one of the dorms. However, students must apply for a room as soon as possible as the capacity is limited: https://www.stw-thueringen.de/en/housing/application/. If the dorm is fully booked, SUAS will assist students in finding a place to stay during the semester.

Further Information

The entire procedure is also explained on SUAS website: https://www.hs-schmalkalden.de/en/international/incoming-students/application-and-enrollment.html
